Rumpelstiltskin Character Designs

Here is some Rumpelsitiltskin Character Designs I did up, I wanted to design rumpelstiltskin because it's always interesting to draw creatures. The man on the left is the beautiful girls father who is pretending to be more important than he is beside him is rumpelstiltskin and the little prince beside him is his mother and father the beautiful girl and the greedy gold loving king. Hope you like it.

Haven't left you hanging though it might seem I have. Anyway, nice to see you've mushed on over to a more fitting vector method of finishing and shown off some of your development work.

Now, to see what you did well. Character design is good and what brings them home is the detailed costumes which look stunning and you're employing the thicker outside line though it could stand to be a tad thicker.

Over time, you'll get to learning your own shortcuts in Flash like anyone would and one thing I'd try to fix is your eyes. Due to the size of the irises they sometimes look imperfect and can also cause one to look one way and one slightly up or down from the other. Work on that and you'll be onto something.

A few things to try, when you deal with fables and mythological stories you generate these rich, beautiful looking characters but when coming up with characters on the fly they fall short. Keep the momentum you create in your own interpretation of existing characters in your own creations.

Something related to something I'll get to in your pencil tests but I'd like to see your work streamlined for animation, as in make the characters work harder by defining them strongly whilst minimising the amount of detail you give.

Finally, I'd like to see how you work would look using no lines and just being designed purely in colour, I think it could look interesting and add a new string to your bow if it comes off right.

Phew, a lot to get through there I know but it should be helpful to you.

I spent an hour goin through your work there, great stuff altogether. Character designs are spot on. Keep pluggin, surprised your not workin. If you're any good at storyboarding there are always a couple of gigs floatin around. Throw some samples together and send them off, you can tackle any character designs people will throw at you, that's obvious enough. All the best, I'll throw your link onto my blog man. And cheers for the comment.
